Ministry Mythbusting: don't force them to read the Bible
March 17, 2011 ~ 2 comments

We all want people in our ministries to have a passion for God's Word, but the best way to build that passion is to build a habit of reading God's Word. Sound confusing? Check out this 10-minute video by RayDeck3 on "The Law of Desire".

To start the engine of growth, we need to help people add new inputs into their lives. The inputs change their beliefs. Their beliefs change their desires, and then they have a desire for God's Word.

great post Brandon, or should I say Ray. I though the points about adding inputs that will shape our beliefs was so good. Most of the time we just try to change behavior or desire instead of changing the reason for the belief that creates the desire.

You're right on. There's so many levels here that most people never even get to. Most of the time we think our environment makes us do things. Some people realize that our desires really make us do things. Fewer people still realize that our beliefs determine our desires. And it is rare indeed to find someone who grasps the idea that we can shape our beliefs through our inputs. I plan to use this video as a resource in my ministry frequently. Thanks for the comment!
