Ministry is simple, but not easy
October 18, 2010 ~ 0 comments

Developing a simple plan for ministry with the right stages and the right ingredients is the most effective way to make disciples.

Most of us develop our ministries (whether it’s a children’s ministry, youth group, or a whole church) based on plans and programs that we’ve seen. We have Sunday School, Sunday Night Service, and prayer meeting. Why? Because that’s what churches do. There’s no intentional plan or purpose linking everything together and guiding decisions.

We forget that things like Sunday School were developed to accomplish something specific in a specific time and environment. Suddenly, our program has become more important than accomplishing our goal: “go and make disciples.” (Matthew 28:19)

What is the process in ministry for making disciples?

  1. Salvation
  2. Growth
  3. Fruit
  4. Reproduction

It’s that simple.

But being simple doesn’t mean it’s easy. How do we build our ministries around a simple plan? How can we make the plan fit within our churches and ministry teams? What will moving people through this process cost us? How do real people make this process happen in real life?

These are the tough questions that I want to work at here.
